Who is your fav royal girl in Star Wars--Padme or Leia?!
Question: Leia. She was the first strong woman depicted in science fiction movies. She wasn't the damsel in distress audiences expected. When "Star Wars" first came out she was considered rude!
Instead of letting the male leads rescue her, she took a gun out of their hands and saved them all, then swapped wise cracks with Han through the rest of the trilogy. She didn't trip or fall down and sprain her ankle, she actually led the way into battle many times and stuck around to fight, too. That was rude.
Whether it was or not, she helped me to appreciate strong women and I made sure my daughter appreciated Leia's strength and intelligence too.
Padme has all the same qualities, of course, but by the time her story was told that was old hat and, unfortunately, she paled in comparison to other strong women characters who came after Leia. I.E. Ripley, Sarah Conner, the women of ST:TNG, ST:DS9 and ST:V.
That's too bad because as someone else pointed out she WAS Leia's mother.

I prefer Leia because she was more developed and not afraid to fight along side Han and Luke. How many Stormtroopers did she take out? Also, she held her own against Han in the battle of words.
Padme was a one dimensional character that was nothing more than a sidekick to Anikan who did nothing but react to his temper which is a shame because Ms. Portman is such a talented actress.

Leia-she's the classic! Padme was a weak character and even her feisty moments seemed fake. Plus the Luke-Leia-Hans triangle is much more interesting than Padme-Annakin secret love.

padme...she is prettier and young...and most of all , she is Leia's mother...he...he..
