I saw this movie about five years ago and it has been pulling at my heart ever s!
Question: The movie was about this French man who stole some bread and this crazy sheriff/cop is after him. He meanwhile takes in a young girl whose mother died and they run away to some other city. the girl grows up and falls madly in love with a cute French guy who is part of the French revolution. I don't remember too much but I know in the end the sheriff finds them and than he wants to let them go but can't live with it so he jumps into a canal and dies.
I know it's not a lot to work with but if you could help me find out what it's called you would be my hero.? thank's
