The Duke and Satine should be obvious. The Duke has the outfits of a very rich and prestigious man. He wears suits, hats, etc. He is very well dressed like a wealthy man would be.
Satine is "The Sparkling Diamond". She is the best of the best at the Moulin Rouge and you can tell they buy her only the best! Most of her outfits are "sparkling" to go along with her nickname.
Christian is a little more difficult. I would say he dresses in clothes that are not what the wealthy would wear. He wears clothes that I would picture a write wearing. We see him dress up when he goes to the Moulin Rouge in the beginning, but that is about it. Most of the time, he wears what would be considered "casual" clothes at the time. Casual, somewhat "poor people" clothes. You have to remember that this movie is supposed to have taken place a while ago!
