Harry is protected in many ways. There are various protections on him. His mother gave her life to protect him from Lord Voldemort, and her love continues to make it impossible for a Death Eater to touch him. At least, it did until Lord Voldemort used Harry's blood to create his new body.
There are other protections, such as the fact that their wands both have as their cores feathers from the same phoenix. Because of that, their wands get all messed up when they battle, and neither can land a direct hit on the other.
That shouldn't be too big of a problem, since a powerful wizard should be able to do some magic without a wand. So, why doesn't Lord Voldemort do wandless magic to kill Harry? First off, wandless magic is less powerful, so the spell might not work without a wand. Secondly, Lord Voldemort is too vain to do wandless magic in this case. Lord Voldemort is convinced that, if he just tries hard enough, he can indeed cast a powerful-enough spell with his wand to kill Harry. We've all done that; something goes wrong, and we just try harder to get it to go right, without analysing why it went wrong.
So, in the end, it's his own ego that prevents him from killing Harry. He just won't go on to try something else, but insists that he can do it his way if he just keeps trying.

Yer i've been wondering about that since the first movie came out. His had tons of chances.
hes has tried on numerous occasions but harry always thwarts him. harry has good protection, and when his protection was breached, he manages to get away. you should try reading the books they're excellent. most of my family reads them, from my 7 year old niece to my mom and a lot in between
