In the movie "The Village" is Edward Walker married?!
Question: I was watching The Village. I noticed that while talking with one of his daughters, Edward Walker mentions "your mother". Is he married in the movie? I never thought he was because he had feelings for Alice Hunt. Anyone know for sure?
How many people do you think were in the village all together? I counted that there were a total of 12 elders, but there were not that many in the photo. Do you think the elders were permitted to bring their spouse or other relatives when they moved to the village?

Edward Walker (William Hurt) is married. His wife is Tabitha Walker, played by Jayne Atkinson, and both of his daughters were born in the village. There's a line of dialogue where Ivy talks about having heard her parents (plural) talking.
If I remember correctly, Alice Hunt (Sigourney Weaver) is widowed and the murder of her husband in the outside world is what prompted her to get on board with Walker's village project. In the group photo of the elders, she's holding a baby which I figured was Lucius.
Regarding the total population, I think the way to get the best guess is to look at the scene at the very beginning, where they'll all eating outside at the tables joined end-to-end. My wild guess (not having seen the movie recently) at the population is just under a hundred.
Don't know, but that movie totally sucked.
Watch the end again closer with the montage of images and the voices - Edward Walker's wife is dead which was one of his reasons for building the village.
