No country for old men is no movie for any one!?!

Question: Wow, what a dismal disappointment, two hour waste of life, go no where, wacked out, deranged, nothingness...it was worse than any words can be thought or spoken. I am still shocked that I sat through the empty nothing and then it's.......over. Seen it, what did you think? Haven't, don't waste your life.

=========SPOILERS LIE AHEAD=========

This wasn't a dismal disappointment. I love this movie, I've actually seen this about 7 times in theater. It's also the 'COEN' brothers to the earlier poster. It seems to me you were disappointed by the ending where it cuts to black. This movie has so many layers, one can watch this more than once. That's the greatest problem with people who don't like this movie. They wanted something conventional, but got something unconventional. This is probably one of the greatest films of the century so far.

First of all, what did you want in the film? It had everything you could ask for crafted masterfully. The script, suspense, action, cinematography, acting, director, editing, etc. Did you want a shoot-out at the end? With slow motion, Lewellyn getting the money, and then killing Anton. This movie has 3 main characters, played buy Lewellyn, Anton, and Sheriff Ed Tom Bell. The Coen's put underlying symbols in this film. How can you say a movie was worse than any words thought or spoken while taking into consideration the crap that's out here now? Admit to yourself that this film wasn't like any you've seen at least in the last 10 years. Realize how unique it is.

EDIT***

Did the story seem unbelievable or just wasn't interesting in general?

"A reflection of, to every action there is a reaction."

Well the ending in the book was faithful to the movie as it was said "verbatim." I admire the COENS for not conforming to HOLLYWOOD and sticking with the novel. I guess you didn't like the novel.

That's fine though, I guess some people like apples and others like oranges. This movie is really great and if you see it again, you might like it for what it's worth.

*********2nd EDIT*********

"Matt, I felt no "connection". It was a story without..."purpose"? "

To me, this movie is about how money is the root of all evil. And it does a great job doing this. Ultimately, in the end EVIL wins, leaving 20+ people dead because of that. There is also a speculation that Tommy Lee Jones is GOD, Javier Bardem is the DEVIL, and Lewellyn is MAN. Man tries to fight the devil by playing its game and it eventually loses taking others in the process. We can get really deep and thought-provoking here but it's Yahoo Answers! LOL. That's why I love this movie so much, because it has so many layers to it I can watch it over and over again. The dialogue is really great, witty, and funny; typical Coenesque writing.

"I feel fulfillment at the end of a movie when I can reflect on a worth while moment...sorry but it isn't there for me."

I suspect the real reason why you feel "cheated" is because Tommy Lee Jones's character feels that way too. Helpless. He can't stop evil or "something he doesn't understand" as said in the beginning. He ends up quitting his job and the dreams he has in the end symbolize the things he is going through in real life. He's feels like he is the last of the "old-timers." Contrary to what his friend believed, he feels that he can't stop the fight evil anymore. It's almost sad he feels that way. Hence, "No Country For Old Men."

The movie sucked, but it's amazing how many people love the film. Also, the Cohen bros. to me are good writers, but their films always end abruptly; I notice this ever since Barton Fink. I think they have an incredible eye for subject matter and infusing the characters with a great character flaws, but their films to me are always missing a crucial element, and this was illustrated in the film 'No Country for Old Men.'

That movie was great if you've ever read a book. it was exactly true to the novel and does a great job of portraying the descriptiveness of the book on to film.

I, for one, really liked the movie and will see it again. It had all the elements that I enjoy in a movie, i.e., top-notch performances by some well-known actors, a tragic love story, good action sequences with car chases, shootouts and BLOODSHED, plus a bit of dark humor and a twist in the end. How many times do you see the bad guy simply walk away in the end?

I agree, it was a waste of time...It definitely didn't live up to its hype.I walked out before it was over...

Very suspenseful movie! What's to be disappointed about!
