Sweeney Todd's already out in American theaters and has been since December 21st.
I saw it on the day of release and I enjoyed it. If you're familiar with the musical it's based on, the film cuts quite a few songs out entirely and trims down the ones it keeps in order to make the story more cohesive and flow better.
If you're not familiar with the story, here's a brief synopsis: Sweeney Todd was a barber who has returned to England after being sent to a penal colony in Australia fifteen years ago on false charges. After finding that his wife has poisoned herself and his daughter has become a ward of the judge who sent him away, he vows revenge. He gets help from Mrs. Lovett, who runs the pie shop under his parlor.
If you like musicals, this is a great film, as there's very little dialogue. If you hate blood and gore, you might be better off seeing "Enchanted," as this movie is very bloody.
