Which his/her opinion on the film Apocalyptico of Mel Gibson?!

Question: I was impressed by it though it wasn't quite the epic I had expected. I also didn't find it quite as gruesome as most people let on or I would have stopped watching it. The bloodshed is to be expected in this story as a way of life. Battle-gore or that from sacrifices is not the same as in movies such as "Saw" and "Hostel". The bloodshed is unavoidable in "Apocalypto", and the sacrifices are for a reason important to the people.

The movies nowadays in which people are tortured and dismembered are far worse than anything in the movie.

I think Mel Gibson should be commended for this accomplishment. Was I the only one who wished it was longer, encompassing the first meeting of those who would become an enemy of all of them? Will there be a second chapter to this story?

It is an insult to the Maya. I wouldn't expect any historical accuracy from Mel Gibson, but he represented one of the most advsanced socities of their time as a bunch of dumb, bloodthirsty savages.

I did not like it. It is impressive, he invested a considerable am mount of money and effort into it..but somehow it does not have "soul" if you know what I mean. It was a personal challenge, a caprice of sorts..
I like Gibson a lot, he is a very talented actor/director/producer.... but somehow I prefer his "real life" stories.
