Breakfast at Tiffany's - is it really such a good film?!

Question: Mickey Rooney's turn as a China man was ludicrous if not racist.

Answers: Mickey Rooney's turn as a China man was ludicrous if not racist.

I agree that there are moments in the film that make it dated, and I think it has lost popularity in recent times (in a recent poll of 250 best films - it wasn't even on the list)

I think a lot of its popularity was due to Audrey Hepburn looking so classy - think of the thousands of posters of her, mostly based on stills from the film. That gave the film a "cool" reputation.

The character she plays, Holly Golightly, is charismatic (if shallow!!) The film is very romantic, which appeals to a lot of people.

For many years it was my favourite film - I think I saw myself in the character... It would still be on my top 50 films, but there are many more folms that I now prefer - mostly, those with a deeper theme and complex plot.

Interesting question!!

no it's WAY overrated. one of the cult films everyone feels obligated to say they like.

It's appalling. But I defy anybody to put Audrey Hepburn and decent film in the same sentence.

It is a good film, but not that overwhelmingly great

Its almost as boring as Lawrence of Arabia

To imagine that chap from 'The Beverely hillbillies' as the deserted spouse of Audrey is ridiculous.
It's not a film that will stand the test of time.

Not in my opinion, I find it boring !

When you sit and think about it, yes it's a crap film. But sometimes crap films are the best??

I agree with the Mickey Rooney point, Americans & Communism - well, what can i say!!

Its a Classic.....

I think its a great film :)
