Question: After the bugs make the cocoons, I think they suck the life out of their prey. The bugs are afraid of any kind of light. There's a scene in this movie where some people are in a jeep out in the woods and the bugs come through the vents. I saw this movie like 15 years or so ago on TV. Oh, and it's not the movie Cocoon. lol. Thanks!!

As soon as I read about the bugs and cocoons, I knew that this has to be "The X-Files: Darkness Falls". The original airdate was April 15, 1994. Here's a link to a page all about that episode, which could help you decide. When I read your description, I thought of that episode immediately because it's one of my favorites though I can't explain why. I simply watch it each time it shows up.

PLOT:
