Is "The Doors" movie accurate?!

Question: I'm watching it right now.

Answers: I'm watching it right now.

No, not really. Though it is a nice piece of fiction created by Oliver Stone and Randall Jahnson. The first time I saw it I was anything but impressed. Disappointed or disgusted would be a more accurate description of how I felt.
I suppose it may have appealed to some people in varying degrees, depending on their knowledge of Jim Morrison.
My nephew just got into the Doors recently. He bought a couple Doors CD's, and had heard Jim's name along with some of his antics tossed around amongst his classic rock curious young friends.
He watched the movie, and loved it... Case closed!

It's really difficult to convey a mans life (however short it was) in a two hour movie. The writer and directors job is to draw you in, and keep you interested. So with that being said...they took little factoids, combined with Hollywood fiction in order to accomplish this. So as a movie, I guess it was OK. But as an accurate portrayal of Jim's life...hardly.

For the most part it is pretty accurate. If your interested in another perspective you should read Patricia Kennealy's book "Strange Days:My Life With and Without Jim Morrison".

I would say from what i know about the Doors...that the movie is 50% accurate 50% Hollywood

I go along pretty much with Darth... I would recommend you read the book 'No One Here Gets Out Alive'... it's a very interesting biography of Jim Morrison, and I'm sure Cleo's recommendation would be good too, I just have not had the pleasure yet... but in any case, Val Kilmer does an amazing job of portraying Jim Morrison and he actually does his own singing in the movie!

Who really knows Hollywood makes movies based on a idea and then will make changes to make it see more interesting.
