What does that guy mean "assume Llewelyn got away with the cash"? He was lying face up dead after he met that chick at the hotel pool. Someone set him up, I'm not sure if Anton eventually caught up with him or if it was someone else's plot. Llewelyn was identified by Tommy Lee Jones who let his wife know outside the hotel without saying a word long before Anton met up with her. I don't think there is much symbolism in the film. It's praised because it followed the novel amost to a tee (or so the critics said, i didn't read it). Also because of it's strong character development, one was generally interested in every character and each one had depth... and Anton is the on of the darkest, scariest, cold-blooded killers ever put on the screen. Everytime he was on camera i held my breath. The ending was slow and left you hanging a little but that was apparently how the novel ended. It was to represent how Tommy Lee Jones character is fed up to the brim and can barely withstand the ugliness in the world today, this is apparent through his dialogue throughout the film but more so in that last monologue. I thought it was very well made and pretty badass. Anton's shotty was sick!

Just another shoot em up film.

Great movie but its not that profound. It just seems wild at the end because the ending was so horrible. It didn't conclude anything. I can only assume the Lywellen got away with the cash and the crazy psycho never found him, after the tracking module was found he wasn't able to find him except through tracking other people. But obviously his wife was dead and so was woody harrelsons character so nobody to track him with.

This review has some ideas for you

i believe the entire movie comes down to tommy lee's speech at the end, the big part is his 2nd dream where he describes his father, he says how his father rode past without he saying anything and that his father was going out there to start a fire and that eventually tommy lee would catch up to his father where he would be waiting for tommy lee, i believe that symbolizes death itself, where he says death would be waiting for him is like regardless death will strike anton and as we see it almost does in the car crash, but i think the meaning is that eventually death catches up

Well, the title of the book and the movie allude to the fact that SHeriff Bell(Tommy Lee Jones) realizes that due to all that has happened with drug deal gone, the death of Moss, the other strange killings, and the hit-man Anton.....that the "country" has become no place for him(the old man) to be and he must retire before its too late for him too!
