Back To The Future: Part II?!

Question: This sounds like a huge error, being the sci-fi Star Trek geek that I am.

In Back To The Future 2, Doc Brown, Marty, and Jennifer leave 1985 and head to 2015 and see their older selves in the future. However, Marty and Jennifer were taken from time (1985) and jumped forward to 2015, without even living for those 30 years.

So technically the 1985 Marty and Jennifer should not even be able to see their older selves since they were taken from time.

This also make since because Doc Brown's dog in the first movie is sent forward in time by 1 minute and did not exist for that 1 minute while Doc Brown was explaining to Marty about what was happening.

Anybody else notice this/get this?

Yes, I agree with you. I noticed that.

In that time continuum, when they arrived at 2015, it should have been a different 2015. Marty and Jennifer would have been missing for 30 years and their lame boy should not have been born. Thus they could not fix what Doc wanted to fix because the original problem would not even exist in that alternate future.

Edit:
What's interesting is.. hey we can fix the story!! :))
How about this...
Doc, Marty, and Jennifer went to that alternate 2015 to find that there was nothing to fix. Then Marty picked up the Sports Almanac then the old Biff stole the idea. Then they went back to 1985 (but this time Biff had become powerful).

The little action with Biff's son's gang in 2015 is nullified but the story is fixed. Right? Can you think of a loophole with this little fix?

I totally need to need to have a Back to the future day and watch all three movies. I love all 3 of the movies. I didn't notice that persay but now that it is mentioned I will pay attention the next time and I bet I will notice that.
Thanks for the heads up.
After being in 2015 they was sent back to 1985. Then time went normal for them until 2015 when the younger set saw the older set. Just because they didn't live the first set of 30 years didn't mean that they didn't live it at all.
The hole premise for the the series was that time travel was possible. Don't forget to note that they always returned to the proper time.
I would like to point out that the Doc went to 2015 then came back to 1985 to get them to go and help. So in reality they did in fact live the 30 years.

wow dude, that's deep.

No really, you are not thinking that they are only gone (traveling from 85-15) for that time. After that they would have lived their lives, which would have allowed them to see themselves in the future.

Technically, paradox's plague all 3 movies. So, the "fan" must accept that it's just a movie from Hollywood, a good movie, but just a movie none the less. If you haven't seen the futurama movie, watch it. They do some time travel stuff in there too, with limited paradox's.

yeah man. i noticed it the first time i watched it but i still love those movies. i never get tired of watching them but even though what you said doesnt make sense, it still worked for me....

...I agree that that didn't sit well with me, logically, when I first saw the film; eventually, after repeated viewings I just speculated that when Doc Brown picked up Marty and Jennifer from 1985, and traveled forward to 2015, he re-traced his specific timeline steps up to 2015, where he initially experienced the problems with Marty's and Jennifer's kids...a timeline which existance is based upon Doc Brown NOT picking up Marty and Jennifer in 1985, and hence explains how they COULD have lived all those years, up to 2015. In addition, when all was said and done, Marty and Jennifer DID eventually get back to 1985, so in effect, perhaps they were meant to fatefully experience their time travels adventures, in the first place, as set forth in the space/time continuum....

How about this one? The Old Biff takes a magazine back to the young biff to win money. Then the old biff goes back to the same time in the future as he was before. But then Marty and Doc go back to 1985 and it's different because of what old biff did for young biff. Doc explains to Marty the different timelines because of the anamolies. But, if that were true, how did the Old Biff get back to the correct future when a different timeline should exist because of what he just did? (giving the magazine to younger Biff) Old Biff should have went to a different future.

Yes, but here's a newsflash: IT'S A MOVIE!

Get over it. It was meant to entertain and not to abide by the laws of physics and time continuum.

Anyway, since when does Star Trek get all the facts right? If that were the case; why does the phaser torpedo make a sound in space?
