Why do all American movies at some point in the film show the American flag?!

Question: I have never noticed the flag thing in foreign films, only American films. Is it a law, or what?

Answers: I have never noticed the flag thing in foreign films, only American films. Is it a law, or what?

It's a country of peasants that can't get over that nationalist thing yet.

because there up themselves think there the only country that matters

its called pride! and we are the only one that matters!

It is quite common. In Spiderman 3, it freezes on Spiderman swinging next to the US flag! Unbelievable! They are probably more patriotic than us!

nope..i havent noticed that.

They don't. I can think of a couple dozen movies just off the top of my head that don't show the flag.

I believe it's called..."product insertion".

America's largest export is its sense of eternal self-satisfaction.

I have never noticed that. We take our American Flag VERY seriously, however, so I'm not surprised. It's not the flag itself, it's what the flag represents, and it stands for so so much. Many brave men have died so that you can see that flag in all the movies.

Of course, it is not true that "all" American movies have the American flag in them, nor are they required to have the American flag. The United States has a freedom of speech guarantee in its Constitution that would make a law requiring such a display unenforceable. Indeed, the highest court in the United States has determined that even burning the American flag is protected speech and cannot be prohibited.

You may notice the American flag in a lot of American movies, and this would be for effect. The United States is a nation that thrives in part on nationalism and patriotism, perhaps even more than other nations. Many if not most Americans respect and even revere the flag, so seeing the flag in a movie scene instantly leads Americans viewers to conjure thoughts of their homeland and the principles for which it is supposed to stand. When these thoughts are thoughts the movie maker wants to produce, the American flag is useful imagery in a scene.

I'm actually a little surprised to hear that filmmakers in other nations don't use their flag when they wish to conjure up a patriotic feeling. It seems almost implausible, but in any event, I think the flag is a useful piece of imagery, but it is most certainly not a law that one must use it.

Thanks for the question.

Patriotism and/or self-indulgence.

Because Americans are a big big patriots.. (patriotism is love and allegiance to the mother land, pride of it's history) They have flags everywhere.. In stores, malls, schools, even houses where live families.. You know that they even have an oath of allegiance?? Have you ever seen in the movies Americans singing/saying it? I have.. I don't understand why are they such a patriots..

I really like how you've already received the accurate answer to this question but because you don't like to be proven wrong you gave it a thumbs down.

You've never noticed all the nazi flags in any WW2 movie? Or the Union Jack flying an all those British adventure movies? I think the majority of films you're talking about concern the director making fun of the proliferation of U.S. flags around the country. I think you need to just lighten up a bit. Peace.
