Answers: I really like Gone With the Wind, Russian Beauty and The Beast, and the Wizard of Oz.

The Three Stoodges

all of the shirley temple films....not sure what era though!

From 48 years ago: Home From the Hill (1960) was and still is one of my all-time favorites. You've probably never heard of it, huh? Here's the plot: Captain Wade Hunnicutt is the wealthiest and most powerful citizen in his Texan town; he is also a notorious womanizer, which has turned his wife Hannah against him. She has brought up their son Theron to be dependent upon her; but as he reaches adulthood, Hunnicutt insists on taking over his upbringing, initiating him in hunting and other masculine pursuits, under the watchful eye of Rafe, Hunnicutt's loyal employee. But Theron's new lifestyle leads him into a love-affair with a local girl, and thence to his learning things about his parents that were previously hidden from him. It stars Robert Mitchum, Eleanor Parker, George Peppard, and a young George Hamilton.

Madame X (1966)

Starring: Lana Turner, John Forsythe
Director: David Lowell Rich

This movie is great ! I actually thought the movie was much older than it really is.

Lana Turner takes the lead in the
Holly Parker (Turner) is married to respected diplomat Clay Anderson (John Forsythe), but his busy schedule prevents them from seeing each other very often.

Distracted and lonely, Holly allows her head to be
turned by carefree playboy Phil Benton (Ricardo Montalban),
who dies in a freak accident during an assignation.
In a panic, Holly contacts her mother-in-law, Estelle Anderson
(Constance Bennett) and asks what she should do. Estelle, a
joyless woman who has never cared for her daughter-in-law,
tells Holly that unless she wants to destroy her husband's life
and career, she should flee the country and never return.

Tearfully, Holly follows Estelle's advice, leaving behind her
young son.

Many years later, Holly has fallen on hard times; addicted to drugs, she scrapes out a meager living as a prostitute in a cheap hotel in Mexico. Devious criminal Dan Sullivan (Burgess Meredith) tries to involve Holly in a blackmail scheme; at the last minute, she finds out that Clay is the target, and she kills Sullivan.

She cannot afford to hire a lawyer to defend her, so she is assigned a dedicated young public defender, whom she soon recognizes as her son, Clay Anderson, Jr. (Keir Dullea).

Not wanting Clay, Jr. to know her true identity, Holly is tried as "Madame X," but she has trouble keeping her composure given the trial and her mixed joy and shame at seeing her son.

singing in the rain and guys and dolls :] classic

I like a lot of the oldies, but goodies!!! Gotta love TCM for playing them! I think one of my favorites from the 30s is Its' a Wonderful Life... I also like some of the old Clark Gable films, and many others... I saw one the other day that I can't remember what it was called, but it had Lucille Ball with dark hair and she had to find someone to marry so she could get some inheiratance... Very funny!!

Yes.

Metropolis and M, both by Fritz Lang, that psychotic genius.
Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
Night of the Hunter
The Bicycle Thief
All those Russian propaganda movies, Battleship Potemkin and those Dziga Vertov ones.
I love all those old Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff type monster movies. I think I'm the only person in the world who loves Return of the Vampire. And the old zombie movies are great too, King of the Zombies, I Walked With a Zombie.
And for some reason I love the Defiant Ones, couldn't tell you why...

"The Maltese Falcon" with Humphrey Bogart, Peter Lorre, etc. is entertaining and fun. "The Third Man" with Orson Welles had good music and interesting scenes.

Yes one called : "Rebecca" fabulous old movie, and I can't get it! and what about Ryan's Daughter although that was later I think but also a fab movie.
