Probably because of their innocence and the contrast between that and what is (or will be) happening, also could be because of the "Sing-song" quality of them can be unneverving at times....
lullaby's are given a haunting edge when used in scary movies, (ever notice that?) It is just used as another way to give u the heebie jeebies.
because they,well some of them are based of scary stuff!like "ring around the Rosie's" is based off the plague with every one who died."ashes ashes we all fall down"
