Not really. I see nothing wrong with wishing things were better than they are and that the world was a happier place where things tend to work out...
In regards to their realism; I don't think they are supposed to be realistic.
It would be like watching James Bond and complaining that it was not realistic.
Most movies are not realistic. So long as there is an original plot that holds my interest, than the movie has accomplished it's purpose... (Sadly, most romantic movies have tedious repetitive plots and that would be what bothers me...)

It all depends is the movie all about the romance only and no other story? If so then there might be a few i can enjoy very seldom. But if theres a deeply passionate romantic movie mixed with something else like action or comedy or whatnot then heck yea

Yeah, if they don't feel realistic... Sometimes all the situations and problems the characters go through feel so fake and contrived- just an excuse for the director to make the movie EVEN LONGER THAN IT ALREADY IS.
Amen...If I have to hear how great the movie The Notebook is I may have to smack someone!
