Question: was krippin virus, which turned infected humans into vampire-bahaving man eating monsters, the initial cure for cancer which was said right at the beginning of the movie? so what has happened to the cure over the three years that resulted in an airborne virus that can turn those infected into those monsters?

Yes, it was. The cure was made by genetically altering another virus - I don't remember which one, I think it may have been measles. But, like any living organism it had the ability to adapt, evolve, and mutate (viruses multiply at a much faster rate than other organisms, and therefore are able to mutate much faster to survive).
What the people didn't expect was that the cure would mutate into another type of virus altogether. What had started out as relatively harmless (like measles) became the krippin virus, all because the doctors had messed around with it genetically. Then the virus developed the ability to be airborne, and the infection spread to everyone before it could be contained.

it was the cancer cure but it mutated and began to make all our huamn attributes dissipate,which resulted in the creatures you saw.neville at one point refers to this on his recorder.think he said something like, theyare risking basic human needs as the hunger takes hold.although id have to watch it again to be sure hehe
The man who was called Robert(will smith) gave the remedy to the woman called Anna.
At last,Robert threw a bomb to destroy the vampire-looking humans and he died wif them too.
Then,Anna hand the remedy to a medical-area,then all humans got treated wif the kripin virus.

It was the cancer cure, but it had a huge side effect that didn't show up immediately.
