Question: What did they do with the Sorcerer's Stone after they took it out of Gringotts but BEFORE Dumbledore put it in the Mirror of Erised? My sister said Dumbledore had it... but if he would have had it... why didn't he just keep it so he knew it was safe? This doesnt make sense to me...

I think he might have feared that if he had it on him, he would either be tempted to use it or that it might be taken from him, so he put it somewhere where he thought it would be safe. Hagrid had it with him, then gave it to Dumbledore who put it on the third floor chamber.
But that's just my guess :]

it was already been guarded... if dumbledore was holding then there would be a lot more posibilities of getting it into voldemorts grasp
yeah the 3 headed dog was watching it and they had tons of spells around it so no one could get it
If you hear the explanation for it at the end, he knew it would be found one way or another
