Is it important for US to produce films that reflect US society & american Value!

Question: Believe it or not a lot of my friends in the horror business don't know why most people don't see that there are a lot of horror films that reflect society. I'm not talking films like Saw or Hostel folks, I'm talking about movies like Fido which shows the dark side of humans and how we take things for granted in life and try to avoid a problem by ignoring it. Or a recent film called The Last Winter which deals with the economic, environmental and energy problem that we face in our world. Even some older films like the original Dawn of the Dead portrayed Americans as commercialized but where they are told to shop and how to look. There are plenty of films beside horror movies that do try to bring certain issues to life and for me that sometimes is what makes a movie great. Not all movies need to be around just to entertain but inspire people to do something better with themselves and the world around them.

We should get Bollywood to make films which make us look good - it's a question of quality versus quantity.

NO!

If American films are marketed towards an American audience, I wouldn't see the point in doing it otherwise. If it's something we identify with, we'll be interested in it. Do you think Americans would rather watch a movie made in America about American situations and storylines or a movie about Pakistanis? Exactly. Not trying to be rude. But it's true.

Not to me. I'm more interested in if a film is any good.

Film industry is private, so they shouldn't be obligated to push American values. That would get too close to propaganda. But I support a rating system to protect children from truly harsh stuff, so long as movies aren't totally censored from willing adults like myself.
