`The Girl WIth the Pearl Earring` - Vermeer Travesty???!
Question: Even in the English stately homes that I visited in the 1980s there was little of the surly disregard for personal rights which we see in the Colin Firth-Scarlett Johanssen `The Girl with the Pearl Earring`. Possibly this treatment was true for one special group: Jews; but inasmuch as we are led to believe that Johanssen is NOT a Jew, it is very very skeptical that she would be imposed upon with such malice and contempt.
Firth played the thing in his usual somnabulist style- underplayed it I should say. Whilst Johanssen was actually very, very good (given the material) (Silly) Murphy was okay; he doesn`t have alot going for him, and it is easy to see why she ended up with the lech.
Still, Vermeer would be appalled.

i was watching bits off it yesterday! it was OK but a bit slow moving for me! i wanted them to hurry up!!

I've seeen it and thought it was good, considering. I have seen better movies though, and a lot faster.
Tropical I take you like the film genre of 'bukkake'
I turned it off...it was somehow gross to me...yukky...
I've seen it a couple of times and I'm still left more confused than anything. There are some good performances, but I didn't think it was a good take on the art.
