Goodness, hate to say it, but was one of the worst years ever for film and we have seen one about once a week for the past year! ( I Am Legend is a 25 year old knockoff of "Omega Man" starring Charlton Heston, if you ask me...what next...a re-make of "Soylent Green"?")

Bourne Ultimatum, I Now Pronouce You Chuck and Larry, Knocked Up and the one that had Billy Bob Thornton, the kid from Napoleon Dynamite and Susan Sarandon were ok...other left me wonder WTF I had paid the admission price for.

Not that I am ready to rent a Jessica Simpon straight to video DVD, but one that qualifies that is better is "Santa Baby" with Jenny McCarthy, or better yet, rent her other movie "Dirty Love"...less popular but much funnier~!

No, it is good year to good films, but not in horror or teenage kinds.

IT WAS A GREAT YEAR FOR MOVIES. CATCH THERE WILL BE BLOOD. JUNO.SWEENEY TODD. BOURE ULTIMATUM.AWAY FROM HER. NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN. SUPERBAD. KNOCKED UP.STARTING OUT IN THE EVENING. WAITRESS.SOUTHLAND TALES.INTO THE WILD....NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN WAS SUPERB

300 was one of the great films of 2007 and in a long time. Bourne Ultimatum was a great way to end the trilogy (each one got better and better unlike another trilogies - Pirates and Shrek). Spiderman 3 was also pretty good if your into Spiderman. Transformers was like a breath of fresh air-visually pleasing. Knocked Up and Super Bad were two great movies that took us back to the good old movies from the 80s.

What about any of the independent films? If you go to blockbusters for substance you are just setting yourself up for disappointment.

Though sometimes its nice to just sit and enjoy a cheesy film every once and awhile. I recognize films for what they are and try to just be there for the ride. I don't expect mind blowing epiphanies and intellectual repertoire from an action flick or comedy.

But yes 2007 did seem to be an off year for the blockbusters which does happen from time to time. But I do have to say I AM Legend was pretty good for its emotional intensity.

No Country for Old Men
Michael Clayton
Sweeny Todd
Charlie Wilsons war

I enjoyed Enchanted myself

No Country For Old Men is a masterpiece and well worth your time. It has a something really profound to say about the human condition and the nature of evil, witting and unwitting. Also I am a huge fan of Ratatouie the new Pixar film. It is great as so many things, one being the story. I've always been impressed by Pixar, I mean even the ones from them I don't love as films because of personal preferance I still like and am amazed by their stance of story is king. Transformers was also amazing, although not in a serious kind of way, but it had some really really great CGI and voice work to it and it was alot better than it had to be, which is saying alot. I don't know about this year being a bad year for good films, cause even some of the crappy films I saw had some really great parts or sequences to them. Like the TMNT movie that came out in March. Most of the movie was lame but there were a few nice touches, like a scene in which two of the Turtles are fighting on the rooftop in the rain. It really bears a nice resembalence to anything dramatic that Kurosawa might have tried or Ang Lee. It had a really great compositon to it that the rest of the movie sorely lacked and showed that the director does have talent if he allows himself the time and work to show it. That scene alone was enough to redeem the movie from being truly awful. As for Borne Utlitmatum that was excellant, I really hope it is not the end for the series.

considering 2006 was a great year for all types of movies, i thought '07 would be the same, but it turned out to be very disappointing. Although there is some great movies like:

Atonement,I Am Legend,The Brave One,American Gangster,Charlie Wilson's War,Sweeney Todd.Juno,Eastern Promises.Transformers,Bourne,No Country for Old Men,I'm Not There,Michael Clayton,The Mist,Lions for Lambs & 3:10 To Yuma.
but not so good for blockbuster movies.
