Why are the majority of male children on american films called Charlie?!
Question: Just like this keeps popping up for you, I notice that in so many movies, there will be a female character called "Annie".
Who knows why, maybe they just think they are non-ethnic names that are multi-generational, not subject to fashion, and will offend no one.
I get sick of all the Annies, just like you feel about all the Charlies.

I never noticed this . . .do you have proof to back it up? Well. . .Charlie is a common name. . .
I notcied that! its funny :p
What movies do you speak of?
I can think of plenty that have kids with other names:
E.T. (Elliott)
The Sixth Sense (Cole)
The Addams family (Pugsley)
Big (Josh)
Poltergeist (Robbie)
Edward Scissorhands (Kevin)
A Christmas Story (Ralphie)
I could go on and on but I am too lazy.
Those are just off of the top of my head....I am sure that with a bit of research you will see that the majority of children in movies are NOT named Charlie.
Never noticed that !
Have no idea except that it might be related to Charles I. Or maybe Charlie Brown.
My dad calls anyone who he doesnt know the name of -Charlie..
Its a very common name.
I thought most american boys were called Billy Joe Bob...Charlie, hmmm...interesting, it sounds rather normal.
Do you think that is just for the English market though ?
