She could be Nancy's (I think that's the lady's name - the mother of the little girl) son, but don't know - I've wondered that myself.
I always thought it was the son of the women with the little girl as well... i always kinda thought they were brother and sister, the kids i mean.
Melvin, is a young adult I believe he was just 18. He might have been there visiting his cousin who was the girl on the Pogo stick. The movie is mostly kevin bacon and the other dude. But that was a good question.
he lived there with his dad Nestor in that trailer. he was the guy that was knocked off the top of the trailer and tried to find safety by getting on top of a tractor tire but was then sucked down through the center of the tire.
*Edit - what are you talking about no response from melvin when nestor died? he was in that shed crying and freaking out. pay attention to the movie!
