A question for the diehard Star Wars fans; I have wondered about this...?!

Question: Are there any plans to expand on the Star Wars movies and Universe? I know there have been book and plenty of comic books, but does anyone know WITH CERTAINTY that another Star Wars movie may be in the works anytime or has George Lucas retired Star Wars indefinitely? Please tell me what you know and your source(s).

When it comes to George Lucas no question can be answered "WITH CERTAINTY" ... it's not in his vocabulary ... he has been know to give two different answers to the same question in the same interview ... and then he will say that his comments "Were taken out of context". However, for the past two years, every time the question of will there be any more movies comes up his answer is always no ... the story he wanted to tell has been told so it's done. He has also been asked if he would allow someone else to "take over" and make new movies and that answer is always something to the effect of "Not a chance in Hell ..." So with as much certainty that anybody can say ... no, there will NOT be any more new Star Wars movies. The story, as you say, has been continued in books and comics ... they go back almost 5000 years before the battle of Yavin and, as it stands now almost 50 years into the future after the battle of Yavin. The comics have taken the story a 100 to 150 years into the future but the comics mostly fixate on the "before" and much less on the "after".

There are plans for a "live-action" TV show set in the time period between Ep III & Ep IV that will basically be about how the Rebel Alliance came into being and the early fight against Palpatine and his "Empire". The answer given by "myavatara" is actually correct but out dated. When the idea first "surfaced", making the TV show about the Clone Wars was one of the options they were looking into but it was dropped recently as they chose to set it in between Ep 3 & Ep 4. There are also plans for an animated series in the same vein as the "Clone Wars" toons that the cartoon network did to bridge the gap between Ep II & Ep III. Personally I would love to see Lucas turn the guys at the cartoon network loose on the books of the EU (Expanded Universe) ... gotta think they would do a hell of a job at it.

Lastly, but certainly not least, there is a web site called supershadow.com ... the person who runs it, Mr. SuperShadow of course, who claims to be an "insider" at LucasFilm and to know George personally. The truth is that SS (SuperShadow) is beyond deluded and a total and complete fraud. The only people he knows from the Lucas camp are their lawyers. I don't remember the exact count but in the run up to the release of Revenge Of The Sith LucasFilm slapped over a 100 "take your deluded crap off your stupid site or we will smash you like the cockroach you are" lawsuits against SS. There really aren't any words to describe what a jerk SS is. I check out his site from time to time just for sh*ts and giggles and I am amazed at the crap he posts. His latest "report" is actually kind of funny in a sick way. He claims that some guy he knows ran into Lucas on a beach and that Lucas told him that he was going to make ep 7 - 9 but that he wasn't going to start on them until at least 2012 because he was waiting for the FX to be around so he could do the movies. I have to admit that I damn near fell out of my chair when I read that because I was laughing so hard. Anyone who knows even a little bit about Lucas knows that he doesn't "wait" for FX to catch up to his ideas ... he MAKES the FX work with his ideas. That is one of the main reasons the Star Wars saga, from a purely cinematic view point, has been so popular. Watching the movies you can find yourself saying "How the hell did they do that" over and over again. That's where the "real" genius of Lucas is ... he has surrounded himself with the biggest & brightest minds of the industry and tasked them with doing the impossible ... and they have come through time and time again with ground breaking stuff.

So, in short, as certain as anyone other than Lucas can be no ... there will not be any new Star Wars movies ... Second, SuperShadow is a jerk and a fraud who doesn't know much if anything about Star Wars ... his stuff is pure garbage.

I hope you can find some kind of answer in my ramble here ... lol ...

May The Force Be With You ... Always.

There is to be a television series set during the Clone wars.
