If you didn't catch on yet, Will Smith is pretty much the only actor in I Am Legend. Sure, there are a few other bit parts, but Smith and his dog are the only ones on screen long enough. The movie starts off with a simple premise and stays pretty simple throughout. A prominent doctor/scientist finds a cure for cancer. In thousands of human tests, the results are all positive. The world rejoices and the new medicine begins to be distributed. Soon after, the patients start having negative reactions and develop symptoms that have them appear like zombies, become extremely aggressive, sensitive to light, and no longer resemble a human in appearance or actions. The 'virus' becomes airborne and transmittable through those who have it and almost everyone in the world either dies or becomes one of the zombies or darkseekers. A select few are immune to the virus including Dr. Robert Neville (Will Smith) who leads the charge in New York City to find a cure for the new virus. Soon, he is the only human left in New York City. The entire movie is about his fight to find a cure and stay alive, while slowly going crazy being the only human left.

The movie is based on a book which I have not read. Once again, I feel this gives me a better perspective on if the movie is good rather than comparing it to the book and my own imagination. I think the movie is really good and I managed to find time to go to it twice this weekend. The second time, I brought friends. I liked this movie enough to go drag friends to it who were going to wait for it on DVD. I love DVD's, but watching films like this on the big screen are well worth it.

The action scenes are excellent with wonderful pacing and guidance from both the camera and the actors. The CG effects are great. Many critics are complaining that the CG is questionable. I understand where they are coming from as if you look at movies like Lord of the Rings and then look at I am Legend, it does feel like the CG effects were either rushed or not made very well. I don't think it distracts from the movie as long as you don't go in comparing it to something else. They don't distract from the overall tone and feel of the movie so I didn't even think twice about them.

Enough cannot be said of Will Smith. His amazing performance propels this movie through. He commands the screen and makes you pay attention to his every facial expression. It is through Smith that we learn of these tragic events and it is through Smith that we experience loss, pain, and ultimate sacrifice.

It's kind of like 28 days later. A cure for cancer is found but the cure like mutates people into these nocturnal things that are 3000x stronger than a normal human and wipes out most of the race.

Demonic? No. More like darkly scientific. And to the above poster, good job spoiling the movie for the lady.

I commend you for asking this question... i did the same.. I had my doubts about watching it and was determined to not watch it. . Yet when hall friends said it was great, and it was not about zombies.

Man was i happy because i wanted to see it. I saw it and I will never again trust any one. I'm going with my gut instinct next time. it had me jumping out my seat, crying, and it bothered my soul for days. I love will smiths work, in addition I always felt he is careful with the rolls he chooses. Which I still feel strongly about that on a lot of levels. Still my opinion not for a christian..

I used to watch horror movies as a child before I found the truth. and i was fine but now I'm very sensitive and often refrain from wacthing anything questionable. unfortunately I allowed others to influence me and I so much regret it.

Oh please I HOPE NOT!!!!! I don't think so b/c my aunts went to go see it and they are witnesses and they said I would like it. I am going Tuesday AND I CAN'T WAIT!!!! Will Smith is so CUTE and he drives my favorite car!!!!!!!, A SHELBY GT 500!!!!! YEAH!!!! sorry I just can't wait. Lol

Agape Sis

I don't watch horror pictures, but when I say the review I had a strong desire to see it and when it came out day one I was there. I have this thing for end of the world pictures. but I found the picture to be profound and thought provoking and it opened up my spirit to spiritual thoughts. I give it two thumbs up and a snap =)

Some of my friends and family have seen it. My sister said it was very intense and a little freaky, she won't tell me too much about it, says I'd have to see it myself. My sister-in-law says it was scary and being a dog lover, she left the theater at one part with the dog then went back. I'm a dog lover too (I have five), so I don't know if I could handle it.

No one has said it's demonic. More sci fi. It's probably a movie that not all are going to like, it seems to be a "guy" movie.

I usually don't like to recommend movies. But I loved "Dan in Real Life" I don't remember anything bad, it's just about a widowed father trying to raise three daughters. If anyone has teenager daughters, they'll love it. I'd paid to see it again in the theater. I also saw "Enchanted", it was very cute. Of course, there is the evil step mother and some disney magic in it, so that may bother some.

I want to go see "National Treasure". I love history.

I went to see this movie. I would say that this is a conscience matter. It is scary but the 'night seekers' are that way because of a "cure for cancer" drug that back fires. They are not that way because of some demon possession. There is no cursing, no nudity and not sexual scenes.

I went to see it. The story is tat it's about a scientist that creates a cure for cancer, but the cure causes the people to die. And the ones who don't die from the vaccine are turned into something like zombies. The zombies only can come out at night, because their skin starts burning in the light. No, it's not demonic. I enjoyed the movie, I love Will Smith, he's a great actor and does a fine job in this movie. There are some sad parts in it, and some of it is violent.
