A question for English speakers.... what is your favourite foreign language film!
Question: and do you prefer dubbed or subtitles

I have seen it with subtitles and dubbed and I prefer the subtitles...I can understand a little Dutch and I hate the lip sync slip when it's dubbed

I like French with subtitles, since I can understand it a little bit. "Amelie" is a fun movie. I also understand some German, so I like trying subtitles with "Run, Lola, Run."

Generally, foreign films I've seen have been subtitled, which I don't mind at all. I'd have to name more than one film though. Here are some of my favorites:

I suppose I should try to keep this list relatively short.
"Jeux d'enfants" (English title is actually "Love Me if You Dare") is one of my favourites. "Amelie" is another one. Both of these films are subtitled; dodgy dubbing ticks me off as well, so subtitles have a green light from me :)
There are several other foreign films I've come across watching late night tv but I haven't been able to get the names.
I'm lame, I know it... But my favorite foreign films are both Japanese. Death note, and the Nana movies ^-^ I also watched a Japanese live action series called Gokusen.

I like subtitles. I have many favorite foreign films. The most recent is "Pan's Labyrinth". I also like "Don't move" an Italian film with Penelope Cruz. I like a lot of Spanish movies, especially Almodovar's films such as "All about my mother". Mexican films like "Y tu mama tambien" and "amores perros" are quite interesting. "Europa Europa" is probably the best foreign film of all time for me because it was the first foreign film I watched. I was about 15 and since then, I am hooked on foreign films.
Pan's labyrinth is a awesome film and it's on film4 over Christmas it defiantly worth a watch if you haven't seen it.
Amilie and City of God, and I prefer subtitles - both are brilliant films

Prefer subtitles any day. I'm a huge fan of J-horror, so just about anything by Takashi Miike will keep me happy. I saw French movie called Delicatessen a few years back - simply awesome! But I think my fave foreign language film (for now anyway) is an Austrian movie called Funny Games with subtitles. I really don't want to listen to the voices of a bunch of failed actors who weren't good enough to get some on-screen time. I'll enjoy the performances of the real talent the way it was meant to be, thankyou very much :)
I like subititles. Dubbing should be reserved for old kung fu classics !

I'm still exploring foreign film, but I'll tell you two AMAZING films I saw last week.
"Angel-A," Luc Besson's latest film. In French. It's about an angel that comes to earth.
"Night of the Living Dorks," a German teen comedy about a group of friends that turn into zombies.
And I prefer subtitles. "Night of the Living Dorks" started playing the dubbed track automatically, and it was just kind of creepy.
