Who was/is The greatest horror film actor/actress?!

Question: I can't name a few because there are so many greats, many of them not listed by the others.
ACTORS
Boris Karloff
Bela Lugosi
Peter Lorre
Christopher Lee
Peter Cushing
Vincent Price
David Warner
Roddy McDowall
Malcolm McDowell
Robert Englund
Michael Gough
Dick Smith
Tom Baker
Jeffrey Combs
Shane Briant
Andrew Keir
Oliver Reed
Donald Pleasence
Michael Ripper
Thorley Walters
Lance Henriksen
Ralph Bates
Ray Milland
Sid Haig
Anthony James
Tom Savini~He looked great in front of the camera, and he did brilliant makeup/SFX! I especially like him in the non-horror "Knightriders".
Charles Gray
Patrick Mower
Klaus Kinski
Conrad Veidt
Max Schreck

ACTRESSES:
Barbara Steele
Barbara Shelley
Chloe Franks~She would have been wonderful as Claudia in "Interview with the Vampire" IF they had filmed it when the novel was released to paperback perhaps. I'd loved to have seen Shane Briant play Lestat, as he had that jaded, aristocratic look. When they needed a demure little girl or a demonic-yet-lovely fiend, Chloe could be that!
Alice Krige
Jamie Lee Curtis
Sigourney Weaver
Fay Wray
Milla Jovovich
Caroline Munro
Stephanie Beacham
Dawn Addams

For me, it takes a lot of these actors to make a good horror film, but only the main ones get listed. I know I left off many who delivered numerous impressive performances.

If I have to select one of each off my list, it would be these:
Vincent Price
Barbara Steele

Vincent Price & Peter Cushion

Have to agree with Ollie

Joe Don Baker (B movie specialist), Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead), It's hard to beat Vincent, he was pretty great for his time.

I really think Vincent Price

Fenella Fielding in 'Carry On Screaming'.

Bela Lugosi or Christopher Lee would be candidates.

The British film studios of the 1950's, called "Hammer Films" was the biggest producer of great horror films. They produces all the vampire films as well as the "Mummy" films. Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee were usually the two stars. Cushing was the great vampire hunter, Dr. Van Helsing and Lee was usually, Count Dracula.

I don't know how many films they made but it was a bunch. They were all well produces and in color.

christopher lee, no doubt about it

Christopher Lee is a legand good dracula and playing evil for me.
Jack Nicolson in the shinning scary

Gotta be between either Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing or Vincent Price. When I was a child they scared the living daylights out of me with the `Hammer House` series of films. I would have to opt for Christopher Lee as Dracula, he gave me nightmares. As for a female, I can't really remember a good horror actress, but the voluptuous Ingrid Pitt always comes to mind.

Vincent Price... and James Stewart was excellent in Alfred Hitchcock films.

Probably have to be the old Hammer Horror lads: Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing.

Boris Karloff portrays realy disturbing characters

Lon Chaney Jr. He changed his appearance with each film and did all his own make up.

everyone here is answering with mainstream actors ...what about Christopher George or David Warbeck or Sid Haig....Hell no one mentioned Angus Scrimm (the tall man)......What of Robert Englund...He did other things Freddy was only 1 Monster he played.

Christopher Lee; he put the sex in Dracula and made him very appealing. Yummmy...

i think Jamie Lee curtis was great in the halloween films horror movies run in her family her mum was in Psyco as the one who gets killed in the shower.

i think Shelley Duvall was great in the shining but i heard it screwed her up pretty bad............................

Vincent Price

Christopher Lee as Dracula, very scary.
