Judging from the numbers you gave. Yeah, it already did...right? of what, 250 million is covered?

I'm glad you posted this because I thought it wasn't doing well. I mean look at the other fantasy movies that did lame in the U.S. but was a hit overseas. Eragon only made 75 million here but made 174 million overseas. Like you said, it's only been ten days and it's already at 130! At least I hope it gets a sequel!

I hope so. I read all three books, just finished the 3rd book a few nights ago, and really enjoyed them. I'm hoping that book 2 and book 3 will get made into movies.

Whether or not it will happen...I hope it will. DvD sales eventually, and a few more weeks in the theater will hopefully put it as profitable.

i doubt it, as much as the series has been complained about

one of my friends said his brothers school actually sent out letters to parents not to see it

Really? that movie actualy made that much money? i seen it and the ending wasn't a very good, but my friend told me that she looked it up on wikipedia and it said that they were making a sequel to that movie, but it's not called The Golden Compass 2, though. she doesn't remember what's it going to be called.

But when i went to see it, the movie theatre wasn't even half full, so i donno if they really will continue the golden compass and make the sequel.

and yeah, it's controversial and many school boards (including mine) banned the series of books, it's suppost to be controversial because it has the death of God, but in the movie they don't even mention God once.

It cost over 150 million just to make it! It only made 9 million this weekend so it's (so far) LOST a whole lot of money and is nowhere close to showing a profit yet. Dvd sales should be really good though because most people who don't want to be seen buying a ticket to see it, will be the people who will get it on dvd and watch it in private...lol If that makes 'em a little profit, then they may make a sequel for strait-to-dvd with a 30 to 50 million budget instead. But I really doubt it, at this point, anyways. :)

I can't believe they got rid of so much of the production cost from selling just selling the foreign rights.

I'm glad it's doing well. Sure looks like it could make it to a sequel with those numbers :) It may not be a smash hit in the U.S. but that doesn't mean it can't be elsewhere! Yey for fighting polar bears!
