Answers: I need some ideas of what to do for my new movie club at school

Each person could bring a review he or she has written of a new or older film. Practice the star system. Perhaps you could start a notebookful of these reviews. If they're in a looseleaf binder, they can be kept in alphabetical order or~more demanding~in a star system in alphabetical order. For example, three-star movies would be grouped together in alphabetical order

Perhaps there could be some discussion about a particular review if members disagree~politely of course. You could compare your reviews to those written by professionals to see how they agree or clash.

You could show a film. Of course, you would have to make certain that you are allowed to do so at your school. You could watch it all the way through or pause it when someone wants to make a comment about it. Often, film classes will do this: pause for discussion because people might not recall later exactly the moments they have questions about or want to point out to people.

Reports also could be about an actor, actress, director, writer, etc., of the past or present. Perhaps the person's filmography~body of work~could be addressed. Often, people do not connect names unless they're famous, such as Alfred Hitchcock or Quentin Tarantino. Perhaps someone likes an actor who is famous for one role but has done other interesting work.

There are many activities that could be developed for such a club.

Well, you could watch a movie every meeting - or part of one at least, seeing as how many movies would be too long for one meeting of a school club - and then discuss the movie. What parts did everyone like or dislike, what would they have done differently, character discussion. Things like that. You could do a different genre of movie each time, or take suggestions and vote. You could also create a movie yourselves! Either something brand new, or your own rendition of your favourite scenes from movies. That would be fun for all members.

I hope that you have fun with this. =)
