Will Smith was immune to the virus... Just like every person has a certain immunity. Not everyone gets sick form the sames illnesses. The virus was airborne which means it was like the flu anyone could get it. Except animals had to be bitten to become infected.
i say watch the movie and find out.. its the best thing u could do=)... its different when u see for urself=)..
I guess people just started biting each other and some were amune or some how avoided the infection

this movie is not original it was performed one before only it was called the Omega man with Charles Heston as the main star of it. He was the man immune from the virus that turned the other humans into these mutant sorts that did not stand the light and he found others that had not turned that he could save just like in I am Legend. So you see it is not a new story or movie, the virus spread through a breakout from a lab that had created the virus got to the general population and killed most everyone except those that it turned into creatures, the star was immune to it cause of his blood.
its air born . and the movie sucked big time the only good actor in this movie was the dog sam .
This was an absolutly amazing movie, it keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole movie.
How who lived, the "Dark Seekers"?
My guess would be that they feed off of healthy humans or themselves.
The virus spread by the "Dark Seekers" attacking a healthy person. When they bit on a person the person would develop an open wound and the "Dark Seekers" saliva would come in contact the the persons blood; just like many other diseases out there.

The virus spread like a ripple effect. Others were already infected once the virus lost containment and went airborne. The people that were left that were immune to the virus were eventually killed or picked off by the 'dark seekers'. It's basically survival of the fittest. Once the dark seekers or infected ran out of people to hunt, they started eating animals.
