Did any one find "A clockwork orange" strange?!

Question: I saw "a clockwork orange last" week and it was pretty strange. it got me thinking that karma/providence/whatever can come around 2-fold and what other "treatments" can be thought of to "cure" criminals?
any thoughts anyone?

I thought it profound.

The fact is that you have a completely disfunctional environment in theat movie and the main character is the only one that is punished for the same type of behavior they all practice, showing that he is the extreme and extremes get all the attention. In the end however when he is the opposite extreme he gets the opposite attention. He goes from being punished to being rewarded because that is the sort of disfunctional atmosphere he lives in where suddenly those around him are all worse than him and in the same manner he was supposedly bad.

As for karma, or providence, they are barely in this film and only if you disallow the concept that good or bad is relative to society in general. Things are judged in degrees of severity. This is something you see in many of Kubric's movies. You probably should watch "Eyes Wide Shut" now to see how the to films reflect one another.

It is ridiculous psychobabble.

No, I thought the movie was brilliant...it had it's own creepy, artistic style.

If a viewer did NOT find the film strange, Stanley Kubrick would turn in his grave. It was intended to disturb and, in that light, was a very successful film.

It took me a while to realize it was an extreme black comedy, but it was a very strange film
