What movie made Wesly Snipes a star?!

Question: Major League
New Jack City
Passenger 57
Blade
any of these?

Answers: Major League
New Jack City
Passenger 57
Blade
any of these?

The answer is definitively New Jack City. Major League made people aware of Snipes, but it was NJC that elevated him to rarefied status of "cool." This movie had a much bigger impact than the box-office would imply. It made Snipes a monster star in the Black community, and to white teenagers who wished they were black. People talked like this movie for a year, and many movies that came after tried to copy it. At the heart of the success was Snipes. But the time White Men Can't Jump came Snipes was already a star. He got that role because of how cool his reputation was....a reputation earned in New Jack City.

blade

Major League, then Passenger 57, but the Blade movies put him over the top.

For me, it was Demolition Man. He played a great villain. Very talented actor.

White men can't jump!

new jack city

I thought he was really good in all the roles he has played. My husband was an extra in "The Fan". He got to meet Wesley. Wesley is REALLY NICE, not stuck up like ROBERT DE NIRO. Wesley gave my husband his autograph. By the way, the scenes from the ball field were shot at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California.

well he's best known for his role as the vampire hunter in blade

but i dont no if that really answers ur question

The movie that made Wesley Trent Snipes a moviestar is "Blade" (1998). "Demolition Man" did not make him a star yet as he played a villian (nobody likes bad guys unless if you're Darth Vader) and "Passenger 57" did not make him a star because the movie was not an international box-office hit. "Blade" had grossed US$128million worldwide excluding the sequels!

I think it was Passenger 57 that made him somewhat of a star. New Jack had him playing a bad guy and Major League he was just a supporting actor. By the time Blade came out he was at the peak of his career.

I reckon his role in "White Men Can't Jump" was his first big step..in commercial terms/starring role..then "MoneyTrain"..again with Woody Harrellson..moving ahead then also. I particularly like Blade 1 too.He could easily be a cool James Bond.

i think it was Blade...i really love the Blade movies the hole 3 of them! but now there is a seiuse's of blade!!

Well I think a person can be a "star" in a certain demographic first and then "cross-over" to mainstream success.
Wesley Snipes became a star after playing Nino Brown in New Jack City. I know this is bad but I was in the second grade when that movie came out and EVERYONE was talking about it. Considering the fact that I grew up in DC during the crack era, this is to be expected.
I think people become "cross-over" successes when they star in a movie opposite a majority white cast. Almost everyone in New Jack City was black so he became a cross-over star in Passenger 57, Rising Sun and Blade especially.
