it depends on the kind of horror you like. I suggest japanese flicks (not remakes). Or the classics. Also you can watch some more alternative kind of menatl perturbation like any David Lynch flicks =)
the Ring and the Grudge have complete storylines (no loose ends), but the Ring is so much scarier.
the Exorcist has a crappy plot but has the potential scare the **** out of you with the imagery
the Mothman Prophecies scared me 5 years ago. good storyline
