The movie "Mr Brooks" has left me confused. Can someone explain it?!

The only part that was a dream was when Jane killed him. and nothing happened to demi moore's character, the last scene is when she figured out that the dane cook's character was not the serial killer

The last scene I saw demi was when mr.brooks calls her.
the only dreaming part was the doughter killing him. the part a d moore --she is still looking for the killer. they never real said for shure if dane cook was the killer they just implied it in the news paper. if you have the dvd check out the extra fetures. they tell you more about the movie. i realy liked the movie. had a lot of good actors in it. funny at times. like when he would lagh at his self. or with his self.
