Answers: my teacher was talking of a film about someone who was hanged for a murder that was not his fault because it was said that he had the mind of an 11 year old anyone know what film i am talking about

The film Let him have it was about Derek Bentley, who was hanged for the murder, in 1950, of a policeman and did indeed have a mental age of about 11 years, he drifted into crime to compete with his peers.
The last hanging in England took place at Walton and Strangeways prisons simultaneously on 13th August 1964 where Peter Anthony Allen and Gwynne Owen Evans were hanged for the murder of John Allen West by Harry Allen (Walton) and Albert Pierpoint ( Strangeways)

i dunno, but i remember the movie with martin sheen in it about the last man killed by the US army for desertion....the name escapes me but martin sheen is one hell of an actor

LET HIM HAVE IT!!!

But the film you are describing sounds like "The Green Mile" i.e.
someone who was hanged for a murder that was not his fault because it was said that he had the mind of an 11 year old. But that was in America.

I agree that it was "Let him have it", but you might also be interested in "10 Rillington Place". It covers a series of murders for which Timothy Evans was executed. The murders, including Evans' wife and daughter were committed by the landlord, Reginald Halliday Christie in London around 1950.

Let Him Have It

"In 1950s England, slow-witted Derek Bentley falls in with a group of petty criminals led by Chris Craig, a teenager with a fondness for American gangster films. Chris and Derek's friendship leads to their involvement in the true case which would forever shake England's belief in capital punishment"
