What's more important in a movie, good dialogue or a good plot?!

Question: It all depends. In the film "Sleuth", two men play a verbal game with one another, and the entire thing takes place in a single house that they never leave. At the same time, "Bourne Ultimatum" has Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) running all across the Globe, making on the best action films in recent memory, without saying more than 45 lines of dialogue.

Honestly, I would say "plot". You can have the funniest dialogue in the world, but if there is no plot, no motivation to push the action forward, you are stuck in a room with two very talkative characters. Heck, even "Pulp Fiction" couldn't rely solely on its witty words.

I would say plot is the most important...Some of the greatest movies has had little to no real dialogue...but how many good movies do you know that has good dialogue but no real plot?

I think both are equally important.. Without a good plot what's the point. And without good dialogue it ruins the plot. I think it's like pb&j they go hand in hand.

plot. it is what keeps the audience enthralled. a movie doesnt need that much dialogue as long as the visuals (cinematography?) and the plot is well devoloped.

That would depend on the movie. Movies like "Clerks" and "Pulp Fiction" are very dependent on dialog. But if we are talking about movies like "The Matrix" and "Dark City," the plot is what's really important since the characters are not necessarily the main draw. There are movies that need both though in order to suceed. "Citizen Kane" is great for both dialog and plot. I would recommend that you see it.

One is no good without the other.

Both
