Does any1 know why Catholics aren't supposed to go see the Golden Compass?!
Question: the movie itself isn't bad. but it may encourage them (or their children) to read the books. The author has said that "My books are about killing God" and that his purpose is to "undermine the basis of Christian belief".
Christianity is described as a "convincing mistake" and God is described as senile and falsely passing himself off as the creator of the universe.
That and most people say it sucks.

because the author of the book is an atheist.
you should watch it if you want. don't let people tell you what you should or shouldn't watch.
Becasue Phillip Pulman is an atheist and apparently it's bad to use stories and films to tell stories that don't fit in with Catholic/Christian dogma.

The producer of the movie is not only aetheist, but gave interviews telling that the movie is both anti-semitic and anti-christian. The end of the movie encourages children to "kill God". Look it up on the www.snopes.com website by searching "Golden Compass". If you are a Christian or Jew, it is important to withhold money from these people.
