Question: If i recall correctly, 2wards the end of the movie - Jason walks away with the head of Krueger and it starts crackling with laughter (priceless laugh).
This implied that Freddy was perhaps not dead.
Also were they both in HELL or something towards the end ?
can there be a sequel to this ? or is the idea just 'spent' and trying to bring back a has been horror flick villain of the 80s with a has been horror flick villain of the 90s ?

This is a project that has been on again and off again with a lot of people talking about adding Michael Myers or Leatherface or someone else to the mix.
The Freddy vs Jason 2 is a concept that is still being looked at but to find out the latest on all of this, I always head over to www.fangoria.com. They have all of the latest information on the Terror Teletype and they will keep you informed about all of the movies that you would like to see.
I think they had developed a plot and actually started shooting it but I haven't kept up with this sequel news in a while but I'm sure the website has more consistent and up to date information.
It would really be easy to explain away the head talking, Freddy is in dreams so they could just make it that Jason was dreaming and then wala, back to reality and Jason and Freddy going back into battle again! Pretty simple when you have these two involved.

There were 2 different endings. One where Jason was the apparent winner and one where Freddie was.

Yes. there is a sequel coming out in the year 2008 in the summer.
If there is one thing I've learned from all the slasher movies I've seen, it's that a sequel is ALWAYS possible. Look at Halloween. Everyone thought that H20 was it, but the demand was there for another one. So they whipped up a quick explanation, and POOF, Michael's back to finish off his sister and return home to battle it out with Busta Rhymes.

New Line Cinema announced about 6 months ago that plans for a FVJ 2 and a new Nightmare on Elm Street movies were canceled.
