Yeah, the Catholics and some other groups are flipping.
An atheist wrote it and apparently, its said that theres some themes supporting the questioning of topics related to god and religion.
Horrible, right?
bahah.
The whole boycotting thing is absurd.

People just need something to rally about /... ;)
neways it is giving the movie free publicity...

The books (of which I am a huge fan) are not anti-religion, they are anti-fanaticism. The point of them is that people need to be free to think whatever they like, not be told what to think. It's ironic that some religious people are now telling people not to watch it - it kind of just backs up the whole point of the books/film!

“In the third book in the series, The Amber Spyglass, where everything that began in The Golden Compass comes to fruition, you have characters turning to each other and saying things like ‘Christianity is a mistake, a powerful and seductive mistake, but a mistake all the same.’

in his books hes talkin about the characters killing God in the third book u finaly see that and thats really obfensive to christians and catholics. i read all of the series and i didnt no that he was talkin about killin God until the movie came out and people explained it. u should b careful watchin it and b careful of what u belive

The books ARE anti religious.
This is admitted by the author.
That being said the movies have filtered all the anti religion aspects and have made a marvelous and highly entertainng movie. I recommend the movie to all that enjoy fantasy like Lord of the Rings.
Whether you read the books or see the movie you are not going to become a drooling, hooded satan worshipper.

here here

The movie is not a threat to Christianity. The Christian Church is here to stay, and will never be defeated. The problem is that many unsuspecting people will be deceived by the atheistic view that Pullman is pushing.

I am not going to the movie. Why give money to an atheist who is thumbing his nose at God? I'm not "boycotting" anything. I prefer to do something more meaningful than watch a movie about a little girl who is a compulsive liar. I read the books. They were a waste of time.

By the way--those of you who say this is "just a movie" are deluding yourselves. It's a vehicle for Pullman to push his atheistic views on an unsuspecting public. It's Pullman's agenda. YOU get a grip.

yeah what is wrong with it? i mean harry potter doesn' t have religion in it. why didn't they flip then?
