Question: Morbid curiosity probably, like looking at a car accident even if you don't really want to see it. Plus, people like that 'safe' scared feeling, where you can get the heebie-jeebies but know that really you're safe.

Becuase that is what attracts them to it. The rush of feeling scared but still being in a safe enviornment.
