I'm Curious to See The Golden Compass, But...?!

Question: I think the whole "British Kids In Fantasy Land" thing is getting a *little* played out now....

Am I alone here?

Movie makers are just going crazy because they have such great ability to use special effects now. Nothing puts special effects to better use than "British Kids in Fantasy Land". lol.

(You have an interesting point, though...)

No. Honestly, I thought it was another installment of the Narnia movies.

I am kinda interested though with the athiest perspective given...y'know, I am one.

don't you dare see that atheist movie.
Guess what the writer/producer,/director said?
: i hate god and want him to die and fall from the sky bleeding

Agreed

Just saw it, if you dont like two parters dont see it. by the way it is nothin like Narnia

definitely getting over the top...I really liked the Narnia one...but there's too much in this genre now...I saw the preview for this move (the golden compass) and it didn't look all that fantastic...I'm giving it a miss
they need more real life, not fantasy stories, with kids for kids

First off...RUSH RAWKS!!!! Awesome dude! ahem...anyway, I totally agree! it is SO played out. And if you're a christian dude, the movie is totally atheist. so yeah.
good luck!

I agree somewhat. But I just finished reading the book and I'm very interested in seeing the movie too.

Maybe next, they'll make a movie about American kids... who knows?

You should read the books. It is so much deeper... well, maybe deeper isn't the right word but just different then the others of it's kind. The movie was good but you should really read the books to get the whole story.

Since I never read a Harry Potter book and don't "get" Kiera Knightly (sp?), I'd say, yeah....

But, then again, I dig Johnny Depp as a pirate and as Sweeney Todd....dig that guy....

And, then again, again, I'd read Dickens any old day over Tammy Hoag <vomit>. But that's prob'ly jus' me, luv.

no, its very good! very original! (well, the book is, havent seen the movie...)

Don't go see that Atheistic nonsense!

Just to give you a {personal} view from Britain :~

1) I HATE CGI ~ just had to make that clear!

2) I don't understand the whole 'Harry Potter' phenomenon.

3) Narnia was a film that was totally un-necessary {I didn't see it}. There was a lovely version made by the BBC in 1988.

4) I watched a review {by adults} last night for Northern Lights {The Golden Compass ~ sorry, I object to titles having to be changed just for American audiences}.
They said :~ the film looked like a bunch of un-connected scenes that had been stuck together. The CGI looked bad. The story was rather incomprehensible because the script had removed so many references to religion.

So, I don't intend seeing it, but I just might read the books.
