Question: I love old films but haven't seen many, I loved Calamity Jane, Young At Heart and of course Gone with the Wind, I have seen more but just on TV and can't always remember names. Any suggestions

If you like cats, you will love this film that is narrated by the cat!

There are so many films that it's difficult to know where to start and stop. If you want films from a specific genre, I'd be happy with more suggestions. I've been watching movies for 50+ years and am a dedicated film buff; I watch all sorts of movies. Are there specific actors and actresses you prefer? I listed a lot of comedies and musicals.

Casablance, Some like it Hot, White Christmas, anything with Errol Flynn, many more Maybe look up competitiors for best movie in the ten years you like the most ie. 40-50 and rent those movies. They did a better job of picking back in those days

Play.com. My favourite musical is Finians Rainbow with Petula Clarke and Tommy Steele. Twinky, susan george and charles bronson. A taste of Honey, Rita Tushingham.

I scrolled through the list of answers and there are a wonderful selection of really great films there. may I add a, "A Christmas Carol" with Alastair Sim as Scrooge.
One thing that the oldies did was tell a story, something that often isn't the case today with all the emphasis on special effects.
