Favorite movies...and why!!?!

Question: I love all kinds of movies. Some of my favorites include Amelie, Life as a House, Cider House Rules, The Painted Veil, Braveheart, Forrest Gump, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Ordinary People, Say Anything, The Last Kiss, The Motorcycle Diaries, Les Choristes, Mansfield Park....etc.

Yep, as you have concluded, I am a sap. I need some variety. That's where you all come in.

What are some of your favorites...and why?

Thanks, in advance, for sharing your favorites with me!

Amelie is definatley in my top ten as well.

Right now my favorites are:

1.Titus: By far the best shakespeare adaptation I've ever seen. Julie Taymor blends theater and film perfectly.

2.Eraserhead: Becuase David Lynch is on a planet all his own and this is still the finest example of that.

3.No Country for Old Men: It's almost blasphemy to say this is the Coens best film since they've done so many classics but this one is just brutal.

4.Requiem for a Dream: Because it made me squirm

5.Happiness: Because it also made me squirm, for entirely differant reasons.

I've got a little over 2000 dvds so my favorites change constantly, but these ones are in my mind right now for whatever reason.

I am a big fan of Rear Window due to the excellence of the story and the great acting involved. I enjoy the fact that it plays on the act of voyeurism and mood for your connection to the characters even though most of them you never get to meet closer than you looking at them from a distance.
It is a simple story but that doesn't matter because you are getting involved with something you shouldn't be seeing and that makes you want to watch even more.
There aren't that many flicks out there today that play with that kind of dark curiosity.

Amadeus. Great acting, great story, great music and wonderful photography.

Hoop Dreams. Real life at it's most dramatic.

The Die Hard Series is absolutely amazing. <3

Also, if you're looking for a sappy movie, "The Story of Us" is one you should watch.

I loved it! :]

Fight club bcoz it's a story from a schizophrenics point of view. very interesting.

ever after a cinderella story. Bcoz its a sweet story about an independent woman.

Fight Club. I like it because it has alot to do with a generation who is lost. I loved it, it was great.

Bring it On all or nothing=coz' there's a lesson and very funny!

Titanic= I like movies with a history on it.

p.s.:I like comedy and mystery movies.

Transformers!
The effects are awesome!

Raiders of the Lost Ark- a great thrilling adventure film.
Rocky- love the underdog stories.
The Godfather- best group of actors ever assembled.
Caddyshack- great for good laughs.
Dances with Wolves- The absolute perfect movie.

The Lion in Winter - sheer perfection! Peter O'Toole, Katherine Hepburn and Anthony Hopkins give the performances of their careers. Breakthtaking acting without any special effects to interfere. Wonderful stuff.
Bladerunner (Director's Cut). A much better movie without the corny voice over and with the ambiguity left in it. Rutger Hauer's death scene always makes me cry
Shaun of the Dead - makes me laugh like a drain every time.
