Please help!!! casablanca?!
Question: writing an essay for film and lit. class on casablanca. The whole thing is on sacrifice and we have to trace the theme from beginning of the film to its final scene. please just give me a main idea for how they each character sacrificed and for what reason they did it(doesn't need to be elaborate, just a few words to get me going)
resistance fighter in their struggle against nazis-
risks and sacrifices made by victor laslo and his courage fighting the nazis-
personal sacrifices victor is willing to make for ilsa-
personal sacrifices ilsa is willing to make for victor and the internal confusion it creates for her-
bulgarian girl,foreshadowing ilsas decision to go to rick for transit letters for victor at any cost
finally....-the ending, all kinds of sacrifices being made including renaults and most importantly rick and ilsas sacrifice of their love to save laslo and their own countries

Maybe my favorite movie of all time.
Essentially, everybody in the movie is sacrificing everything and anything they can to escape the NAZIs. The question becomes, what will people do for freedom, for opportunity.
Laslo sacrificed his relationship with Ilsa to fight in the resistance. Isla sacrifices her relationship with Rick to repay the man who save her as a young girl. In the end Rick sacrifices his love for Ilsa to save her, Laslo, and himself and his own integrity.
