About the movie "Pretty Woman"?!

Question: I have watched that movie so many times I can practically recite the whole thing from memory. But there's one line I never can understand. It's near the end of the movie when Julia Robert's (Vivian) fellow hooker, Kit De Luca, comes to the hotel to get rent $ from Vivian. They are walking outside trying to find a table to sit at and Kit is saying how good Vivian looks. She says, "You clean up real good" and then comes the part I can't figure out what she's saying...something about showing up on the boulevard. And she ends with, "Not that you ever did." I'm old enough to have watched it when it came out and for all these years everytime I watch it I try to listen REALLY close, but I can't get it. And it bugs me. Can anyone figure it out for me? Thanks a bunch. You'll be solving a years-old mystery for me. One that's really insignificant, but still....

she said

"You sure don't fit in down on the Boulevard lookin' like you do, not that you ever did"

it was kind of a backhanded compliment

a nice way of saying she never looked like a hooker in the first place, and esp doesnt now that she was all cleaned up and classy.

use the subtitle feature on the dvd, or your tv should have the same feature

She says " you wouldn't fit in on the boulevard looking the way you, do not that you ever did."

I think she is saying that she looked less attractive, on the boulevard. Some implied trashy. Not that Julia ever did.

I love that film too. I think what Kit means is that she never was right to be a hooker on the boulevard, too classy and suited her new look and deserved the best. That's my interpretation of it anyway.

I have watched so many times too, but i have not watched it in quite awhile, so i can't remember what was said. I would suggest putting the movie on closed captioning during that part so you can read what is being said. I have had to do that with several other movies to figure out what was being said at certain parts of the movie. Hope this helps!!
