My doctors told me that was really rare. Cause when I had surgery that was one of my biggest fears. But I got lucky cause at the hospital I went at they put some kind of patch on your forehead that monitors brain movement so they can monitor you to make sure your not "awake."
There is a movie about this? I saw a TV show about this recently. The people say they were praying for death. Personally, I dont believe a person could stay conscious for more than about a 1/10 of a second due to the pain. Their brains would shut down.
More Importantly, they cant SCREEEAM!!
IT is rare, and it does happen. But they do have brain monitors to monitor the brain frequency of your brain.
