What are some good films that work on a load of different levels???!

A couple of standouts, IMO, are "Snatch" and "Perfume".
"Snatch", because it's all things, drama, comedy, suspense, thriller...all without strain. The actors were stellar, hilarious and Alan Ford just slays you. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0208092/
"Perfume" is a really unusual medium for this story of a serial murderer. Unique and has so many levels of observation of human nature, quite startling. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0396171/
The book Perfume" was better than the movie, of course. Read it too or first, if you have time. Later, if you don't. It really draws the reader into the nature of his olfactory ability. The film tries, but doesn't do it justice.

The Colour Purple directed by Steven Spielberg... that film is jam-packed full of crazy symbolism!
a couple of the Sam Mendes films would work well...Road to Perdition or American beauty...lots of subtext and extra plot lines.
The Usual Suspects
It might not be the most recent, but it is probably one of the best films I have ever seen and it is one I recommend for my students. You will certainly have lots to work with for your analysis.
I always like the "camera-in-motion" style of Guy Ritchie, so I'd recommend Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels or Snatch. Luc Besson has some great work as well in the Big Blue, Le Femme Nikita (Point of No Return), Fifth Element and the Professional.
Unforgiven...all the way. If you haven't seen it, watch it. You'll know what I mean. Different points of view from people of different social status, stature, upbringing, way of life. Who's right, who's wrong, who gets to decide. And there's nothing that we all can't "get" from every side.
