Old movie buffs.... need your minds!!!!!! Can't get it on my own!!?!

Question: What old B&W movie had the scene in which one of the stars (a male and a female acting like tourists that were on a date) put their hand inside an old carvings mouth and faked having his or her arm bitten or stuck in the mouth of the carving. I think it might be a Bob hope movie. I think that it might have been set in Egypt. I haven't seen it in years. Old movie buffs please think!!!!

The trick was used in Roman Holiday, but that wasn't a comedy. Must have been another movie. Sorry!

The only Bob Hope movie I have where he's in the desert is Road to Morocco. (And I have a lot of his movies:)

In "Roman Holiday" (1953), Gregory Peck's reporter character does this to frighten Audrey Hepburn's character, the princess masquerading as a commoner. Actually, Peck DID scare the actress, so her scream is the genuine response! (See more information below.)

This scene might have been imitated later, but the original is set in Rome. I think the sculpture is called "the Mouth of Truth", but I'll have to check on that.

I'm back, and my memory didn't play tricks on me! This is from the Wikipedia site:
They spend the day seeing the sights, including the "Mouth of Truth."
Also, I found this:
One of the most famous scenes in the movie is when Peck puts his hand into the "Mouth of Truth" (La Bocca della Verità), a stone face in Rome that legend says will bite your hand off if you tell a lie. In the film, when he pulls his hand out it is missing, causing Anya/Hepburn to scream. He then pops his hand out of his sleeve and laughs. Hepburn's shriek was not acting — Peck decided to pull a gag he had once seen Red Skelton do, and did not tell his co-star beforehand. The joke is also used in the film "National Treasure: Book of Secrets".

So, it looks as if it has been used only once before the 2007 usage~in "Roman Holiday".

I just have to mention that this was Audrey Hepburn's first U.S. film, and she won the Best Actress Oscar!

i'ts Roman Holiday
it's set in Rome and it stars Gregory Peck as Joe Bradley and Audrey Hepburn as Princess Ann
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0046250/
Princess Anne embarks on a highly publicized tour of Europian capitals. When she and her royal entourage arrive in Rome, she begins to rebel against her restricted, regimented schedule. One night Anne sneaks out of her room, hops into the back of a delivery truck and escapes her luxurious confinement. However, a sedative she was forced to take earlier starts to take effect, and the princess is soon fast asleep on a public bench. She is found by Joe Bradley, an American newspaper reporter stationed in Rome. He takes her back to his apartment. The next morning Joe dashes off to cover the Princess Anne press conference, unaware that she is sleeping on his couch! Once he realizes his good fortune, Joe promises his editor an exclusive interview with the princess.
