Which Willy Wonka movie follows the book better?!

Question: I've never read the book, but I saw both movies.

Although the stories were somewhat similiar, I thought the original was way better. I didn't like they Tim Burton added suspense music to the movie, but it just gives it the feel of a horror lol. And, what the heck was up with incorporating Willy's dentist father? It gave the movie a depressing feel. The Gene Wilder one was a happy ending type movie.

Actually if you read the book then Tim Burton's was far closer to the original. These weren't cute little lovey dovey books. When reading the books I always thought it was a comment on the 7 deadly sins. This is played out far better in the newer version:

Greed - Veruca
Glutny - Augustus
Pride - Violet
Anger - Mike TV (He loves violent movies & guns)
Sloth - Charlie's Grandpa
Envy - Charlie
Lust - Willy

NOT THE ONE WITH JOHNNY DEPP

the burton version follows the book more closely rather than willy wonka-his movie is even titled after the book! dahl was a childrens author, but also wrote adult stories, all his writings had a dark undertone.

the willy wonka and the chocolate factory NOT charlie and the chocolate factory
in the new one with willy wonka it has alot more of the things that actually happen in the book. like the squirels yeah thats in the book lots of it is so the new one
